NEW DATE! Fri 29 Sep 2016 5:00–7:30 — Public Reception Party for the TDC International Communication and Type Design Competition Exhibition in the Schelfhaudt Gallery as the Type Directors Club returns to SASD at UB.
Wine and light refreshments will be served as you view the world’s best design work in communication design that use type, calligraphy, and hand lettering as central design motifs in branding, posters, books, advertisements, editorial, packaging, environmental installations, and experimental work.
Based in Manhattan, the Type Directors Club (TDC) invites national and international professionals as well as students to send design work that shows their best use of typography and lettering in communication design. Judged by an international jury, the resulting selections are sent on world tours in seven editions. Type design accompanies communication design as the fount (that is, font) of materials for designers, and is judged by its own separate jury.
Each exhibition is inspiring for students and professionals and anyone who uses type and text — that is, of course all of us.
This is the sixty-first TDC exhibition, and the fourteenth to be shown in the Schelfhaudt Gallery at SASD in the Arnold Bernhard Center, 84 Iranistan Avenue on the University of Bridgeport campus.
Hours are Monday through Friday 10:00–5:00, Saturday 12:00–5:00.
After the exhibition, the materials become part of the SASD graphic design archives for use by students and classes.
