Rick McCollum was raised in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. He earned a BFA with honors in Illustration from the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles, CA. McCollumʼs clients have included General Motors, Time-Life, Warner Brothers, Newsweek, Mercedes-Benz, National Geographic, Amtrak, Georgia Pacific, Golf Magazine, L.L.Bean, New York Life, New York Times, RCA, Readers Digest, RJR/Nabisco, NBC, CBS, Marlboro, and Disney. His work has been featured in leading design and illustration books and periodicals which include Communication Arts, Graphics: New York, Graphic Design USA, Print, How, AIGA, Graphis, and the Society of Illustrators NYC. His illustrations have received over fifty awards of Excellence and Merit including Medals from the Society of Illustrators NYC, The Art Directors Clubs of New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey, and Best Editorial Illustration, Art Center College of Design Alumni Show. His paintings and drawings have been exhibited in several group and solo shows both nationally and internationally. He received the Best New Artist Award from the C.M. Russell Museumʼs art auction, the Old West Museum Western Spirit Show Best Oil Painting Award, and the Artist Choice Award from the Western Artists of America Show and Sale for his western paintings, which are represented by several galleries in the West.
