Alex Ananin is an alumnus of UB with a BS in Industrial Design, and a Masters in Professional Studies, Design Management.
He is now at Nexus Design LLC of Oxford, CT as an industrial designer. He works on projects from various industries including Healthcare, Aerospace, Defense and Consumer products. As a lead designer on multiple projects he has experience in taking an idea from concept to production. Designing to military specifications while keeping products aesthetically pleasing has been difficult, but rewarding.
He started at Sterling Group of Waterbury, CT as a freelance designer and assisted in product development for large brands such as Sun Products Corporation and Country Crock Butter. Most projects included idea exploration through digital sketching, CAD modeling, foam modeling and renderings.
As a student, he was an intern at Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation of Stratford, CT. He assisted in sketch development of VIP aircraft interiors (S-76, S-92) and designed VIP exterior paint schemes to be presented by management to customers, met with various suppliers and selected new materials for aircraft interiors, and improved organization and efficiency of the design process.
His courses include Exhibition Design, Materials & Manufacturing, and Junior Industrial Design Studio IV.
